Who are two bassets up above Grizzly who are wild and bark all the time? The one has a bark like a cannon. Seen 'em walking and they are some kind of championship dogs, but the black one won't shut his snout.

Kids Backpacking

I'm looking to do an introductory trip with my 10 year old son. Would like a easy 2-3 day trip with about a 3 mile hike one way. Considering Twin Lakes out of Frog Lake near Gov. Camp. Do you have any knowlegde of this area, or could you reccomend another possibility ? Thanks!

Can anyone on this site help me get in contact with, or give me news of, my brother, Stephen Pickles, formerly of Grimsby, England ?

He has been touring the world these last ten years, we haven't heard from him for four. I know he has been in the US, S Africa, Russia, the far East, Australia. We miss him a lot. He is a grand uncle now, twice over, and his mother is poorly.

If you have news of Stephen, even if it is old news, please let me know.

The ticks are awake in southern California.

It was a black tick and didn't realize. I thought I just had black mud on my leg. Gave it a tug and it was attached. A stronger tug and it was off.
Then I realized that it was a tick.

Do I really gotta go digging for mouth parts?
What could happen if I leave them there if they are actually there?
I shaved the area to get a better look. Could that have scrapped enough of the mouth parts off?

Great resource for hikes in the Lake Champlain region. The Lake Champlain Land Trust at www.lclt.org has great events and updates all the time. They work to conserve natural areas around Lake Champlain so that people can enjoy them for low impact recreation and hiking. I suggest you check it out! Just a really great resource on Lake Champlain!
