I'm planning on taking my little sister (she's 17) on a trip through Californa, Arizona and Nevada (we're from Sweden).. a friend told me about juvenile curfews and that that might be a problem for her since we're leaving our parents at home. Is this something that we should worry about?

There are some areas of California, such as Monrovia and Norwalk, that have enacted juvenile curfew laws. However, if you're from Sweden, and especially if you are over 18, it shouldn't be anything to worry about. We took my sister-in-law around California when she was 17, and we didn't have any issue. The laws are to keep truancy and crime down by youths of California communities, not to throw tourists in the brig. Just make sure you have some type of proof with you at all times that you are Swedish and on vacation with your parents' consent, just in case.
The law affects children who are not in school when they are supposed to be. Your sister isn't supposed to be in California school, so they wouldn't be enforceable on you, I would imagine. Just my opinions. You might want to check with the tourist bureau or the State Patrol to get all the facts. Hope this helps, and thanks for visiting!
