Can anyone tell me what the best place to live is? What has the most California like weather? I want to have as much sun as possible. I'm not very good with grey days. Thanks for your help.

I'd recommend to take a hard look at the Bend/Redmond/Sunriver area. That's the major area in Central Oregon, about three hours from Portland.
