Japanese store and community? |

Hello. My wife and I are moving from Japan to Vancouver in early 2005. We were there visiting in the Summer of 2004 but we only found a Korean and Vietnamese store. Our foods are somewhat different so we are hoping there is a Japanese food store within Vancouver or a Japanese community that maybe has organized some type of co-op.

There are several Japanese stores in Portland, right across the river. The biggest one I've been to is Uwajimaya, which is just huge, and consists almost entirely of asian food, including ingredients for sushi and other seafood dishes not commonly found in American stores.
You can see a listing of several markets here. As for Vancouver, there are many asian markets now, but I personally haven't been to them to see what nationality they are mostly catering to.
