Basset Hounds out of control |

Who are two bassets up above Grizzly who are wild and bark all the time? The one has a bark like a cannon. Seen 'em walking and they are some kind of championship dogs, but the black one won't shut his snout.

Walkers | ||

I've not heard them bark, but I've seen them walk. The blonde who walks them can't or won't control them. Whose walkin' who, here anyhow? If they bark as much as they walk, it must be one noisy neighborhood. Prime dogs though, gotta say that.

Earthquake and tornado

Oh you must be talking about Earthquake and Tornado. Earthquake is the big black basset and tornado is the crazy sidekick. I saw them down by Grass Valley one morning and then 5 minutes later they had walked up to Grizzly. I think they have helicopter assistance. Tornado is a sweet little puppy, my kids like watching for her. Earthquake is just LOUD.

Earthquake's coyote control
|
I like on Everest and Earthquake is a hit with us. I think they're new to the neighborhood because I never saw them until around Xmas. Earthquake lets out this enormous deep bark when coyotes are around. He does this all day. Must keep him in at night because I only heard him a few times. My husband says, "There goes earthquake" and sure enough, coyotes are circling in the area then.

Bassets | ||

They live in the new two story above Grizzly. I don't kow the name of the street but they patrol their yard all day and the huge black one has a howitzer of a bark. I can hear him when I'm golfing. I think he dines on coyotes. The little one is a scream. He dances around, jumps and does a little dance that looks like a minstral.

Not Earthquake | ||

I don't believe their actual names are Earthquake and Tornado. And yes, they are new up here.

I like them | ||

I like them both. I'm on lower Pioneer and I hear the darker one explode about every 15 minutes during the day. Just goes to show you how many coyotes there are up here. I met them when walking my Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pig and the tiny puppy is a riot. I think they must be brother and sister. The black one acts as bodyguard. When I petted the puppy his hair got all bristley on his rump and he herded her away. He has jealousy issues.

I prefer the little antsy one, the reddish one. She is on meth.

Earthquake's bark | ||
|
What a hoot, are their names really Earthquake and Tornado? I've seen them down by North Bay condo complex in the afternoon. The black one is leading and pulling for all he's worth and the tiny reddish puppy is pulling away too. Then I took my sister up to an Open House and there those two characters were on their porch, barking and going crazy. There was a young coyote near their fence and the black basset was prepared to do battle! The coyote was seeking a meal, but Earthquake's bark scared even the hungry coyote away. His bark could be heard all the way to Riverside I'm betting.

Basset raising | ||

I know the two dogs you're talking about. I raised hounds years ago and Earthquake is bred to protect his lead dog (rabbit) and that is Tornado. I've seen these two walking and Tornado is faster. Watch next time you see them and Tornado is a bitch, not a male dog. Earthquake was bred to track and bring up the rear and to retrieve whatever prey is out there. Tornado is bred to race along like the wind and whip up the dogs behind her. She is not bred to bark or retrieve anything.
Someone posted that Earthquake gets mad if you pet Tornado. This is because his job is to make sure Tornado isn't distracted and to have her in the lead, tracking the coon or rabbit they're after. Earthquake has a bell bark because he's bred to explode barking if two contingencies happen: 1. Someone threatens his pack 2. He finds prey. He then is to retrieve it to his master. I wouldn't have Tornado as a pet because she probably doesn't listen, won't drop things and does her own thing. Earthquake I would bet is very obedient. He's bred to be and the hunt depends upon his bark and his smarts. Two cute little doggies if I say so myself. |

Canonball Run | ||

Where exactly do these two critters live? We're on Birchwood and sometimes hear this explosive deep bark that lasts about 10 seconds. I don't remember hearing it until recently. It rattles the windows. I thought it was a Maltese or German shepherd. I can't believe such a huge bark is coming from a smallish dog like a basset hound.

Yup, that 10 second bark is from Earthquake. I'm on Pinewood and I hear it. My wife and I went out one day to see where it was coming from and pinpointed it to the street above Grizzly, the dead end.

Tornado doesn't listen
|
The skinny one's called Tornado. She doesn't listen at all. I met her and petted here last month and I called out "Tornado" three times last time she passed on a walk and she didn't respond at all. So she isn't an obedient dog.

Tornado P. II | ||

Maybe she didn't respond 'cause her name isn't Tornado. Someone already posted they don't think those are the dogs real names. I see them and will stop the man who walks them and ask him. She's too skinny.
