Delta seeks a dozen new flights to Mexico

Delta Air Lines Inc. plans to start flights on 12 new non-stop routes between the United States and Mexico by June, pending approval from the Mexican government.

The bankrupt Atlanta-based airline (Pink Sheets: DALRQ) already has U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) approval for the 12 routes, which are now available for sale to customers. In December, Delta began new service between Atlanta and Puerto Vallarta, added another flight each between Atlanta and Guadalajara (two daily) and Mexico City (three daily), and added a third flight that will operate seasonally between Atlanta and Monterrey.

The new routes are:

Atlanta to Acapulco (April 5), to Merida (Feb. 26) and to Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa (April 12).

Cincinnati to Cancun (June 1) and to Los Cabos (Feb. 1 .

Los Angeles to Cancun (June 3) and to Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa (April 15).

New York-JFK to Acapulco (March 11), to Cozumel (June 3), to Los Cabos (April and to Puerto Vallarta (March 4)
