I'd recommend anyone visiting the region in the near future and anyone looking for information on travel to Cancun, print this list for reference.

As for beaches conditions, a detailed inventory is being prepared. At present, the area between the Riu Cancun toward the downtown/mainland (facing the Bahía de Mujeres) and other along the hotel zone, has actually had its beaches expanded, this represents approximately 4,000 lodging units.*
*(NOTE: Beach restoration has already started at many Hotels and sand dredging equipment is in place, waiting for favorable sea conditions, to begin restoration in other areas, particularly the southern hotel zone. Heavy cranes and equipment are presently working to restore Cancun beaches. Government sponsored restoration is set to begin on January 16, 2006 and near completion by April,2006.)
