Weeks after the devastating hurricanes, Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that it will resume service effective today to and from Cozumel, Mexico.
Carnival president and chief executive officer, Bob Dickinson, was impressed with the rapid resumption of service.
He said: "The progress in Cozumel has been absolutely remarkable and tremendous credit must be given to the local officials and citizens for their extraordinary efforts in readying the island for the return of cruise visitors."
The cruise liner will operate its usually scheduled trips to Cozumel from Miami, Tampa, Galveston and Port Canaveral, but in 2006 Carnival has said it may change some destinations or even add a new route.
Carnival will also resume service to the smaller Mexican destinations of Calica, Costa Maya, Progreso and Veracruz.
